Ivan Nathaniel Dixon III was an American actor, director, and producer. The Spook Who Sat By The Door was his second feature film. All original 35mm distribution prints were effectively destroyed or removed from the market. For nearly 30 years, it was considered a "lost" film until Dixon's preserved personal vault copy was finally discovered and released on DVD. In 2012, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
His first feature film is Trouble Man (1972), which has a good Marvin Gaye soundtrack:
